Ritz Carlton to Debut in Maldives This Year
Marriott International, Inc. is to debut The Ritz-Carlton brand in the Maldives later this year. This 100 villa resort is to be called The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands.
The company signed the agreement with CPRC (Maldives), a member of Singapore-based Pontiac Land Group (Pontiac Land), which is developing the resort. Paul Foskey, the Chief Development Officer in Asia Pacific at Marriott International said in a statement, “We are pleased to collaborate with Pontiac Land in bringing the Ritz Carlton brand to one of the world’s most famous travel destinations”
The Ritz-Carlton also has appointed seasoned Maldives expert Mark Hehir as the General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Maldives Fari Islands. With over 20 years experience in Maldives, Mark has led the opening teams at Huvafen Fushi as well as Maldives Hilton Rangali (now Conrad Maldives Rangali Island). Mark also filled in the role of General Manager of luxury resort One&Only Reethi Rah for a period of four years.
Fari Islands is located in the North Malé Atoll of the Maldives. The island is 50-minute journey by speedboat or a 10-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport. The hotel is expected to be a part of Fari Islands, an archipelago that features three world-class hospitality brands inclusive of The Ritz Carlton.
More details about the resort is expected to come out in the third quarter of the year. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., of Bethesda, MD., part of Marriott International, Inc., currently operates more than 100 hotels in 30 countries and territories.
